No friend requests or user messaging for Miiverse on 3DS

Legacy of Friend Codes won't go away.

The Nintendo 3DS version of Miiverse is going to have a smaller feature set when it launches next month.

A Nintendo Customer Service representative has confirmed that the 3DS version of Miiverse will not have the friend request features or the ability to send messages between users.

These missing features aren’t likely to be deliberate, instead because the 3DS has the friend code function instead that a NNID based friend list isn’t possible. The lack of being able to send messages between users could be down the recent troubles with Swapnote or again to the lack of NNID based friend list.

You’ll still be able to post on Miiverse, reply and share images and screenshots however – the real fun part. Miiverse coming to the 3DS won’t be without its pains, but it should be a good move overall for everyone.
