Friend Collection 3DS arriving in Japan next year

Iwata sure knows how to have a good time!

If you’ve never heard of Friend Collection 3DS before it’s nothing to be ashamed of. This is kooky Japanese Nintendo stuff at its finest.

The title was first teased last year, and Nintendo has been quiet about it since. Until now that is. Friend Collection 3DS has been given a 2013 release for Japan at the latest Nintendo Direct conference.

The game is basically a life simulation scenario making use of Nintendo’s Mii avatars and allowing them to take part in a range of mini-games.

The trailer of Friend Collection 3DS shows Iwata’s Mii learning to hula dance, boxing, riding a roller coaster, accessorising and singing in a rock band.

The only bad news about all of this is the original DS version of the game (Tomodachi Collection) was never released outside of Japan. So the chances of the 3DS version being released outside of this region aren’t so good either.

Maybe if we all cry out at once Nintendo’s western localisation teams will take note and realise we also want some crazy Iwata action on our 3DS.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
