Friend Collection 2 revealed, learn to make Mii babies

Enigmatic super popular Japan only series to get a surreal sequel.

Among the seveteen billion other games announced at todays event was Friend Collection 2, which is perhaps the least interesting to me as a western gamer. It won’t be released here. Straight up. Which means that due to region locking, no one except owners of Japanese 3DSes can play. Despite this though, it’s quite possibly the most important announcement of the day in terms of the 3DS as a platform, aside from the Monster Hunter 4 megaton. This is because the original game sold over 3 Million copies, which is even more amazing when you consider that it’s a Japan only release. 3 Million for a new IP? Friends Collection 2 might be just what the 3DS needs.

Friend Collection, or Tomadachi Collection as its known in Japan, is kind of like The Sims, if you’re not familiar with the game. However the game was never released outside of Japan. So imagine The Sims, but a copy of The Sims so intrinsically Japanese that it couldn’t sell internationally…

The reality manages to be even weirder than that, somehow. This new one looks like it will scan your face into the game and super impose it on your character, making it even creepier when you decide to get married and have babies with a fellow 3DS owner.
