Promising a return to survival horror as more details get revealed

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has revealed some new information on one of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS Resident Evil titles. Resident Evil Revelations has been revealed to be an entirely new Resident Evil game that’s set on a luxury cruise ship and will be set between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 and follows the BSAA anti bio-terror forces.

While we knew Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine will return, the magazine says that other BSAA members will appear however there is no word yet as to which ones.

A little of the game’s story was revealed, the prologue has Jill and Chris approaching the ship in the dead of night in a storm. As they approach Jill says "Surely, they are somewhere on this ship." We presume they’ll looking for someone or survivors have sent a request for help out.

Fans of the ’classic’ Resident Evil experience will be pleased as game producer, Masachika Kawata has said that game will deliver a greater sense of fear with exploration and puzzle solving returning as oppose to a more action orientated approach of Resident Evil 4 and 5.

The type of fear that the game will deliver will be the classic enemies popping out of no where, limited ammo and more. The game’s director Koushi Nakanishi says that the 3D graphics will give a greater sense of depth and this is the reason they decided to go back down the horror route.

Other gameplay details were scarce but storyboard scenes from later in the game have been shown in the magazine. The game’s setting, based in Europe, was also revealed as well as a rough estimation that the game is only currently 20% complete.

The game still has a TBA release date, so don’t expect it for launch. Good news though, Mercenaries 3D is currently 70% complete and that looks far more likely to be a launch title.
