First Okamiden Chisaki Taiyou details

More details on the DS sequel to Okami have been revealed

Revealed just a couple of days ago, more deals of Okamiden have been revealed including its full title, Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou. You’ll take control of a new wolf this time around called Chibiterasu as you travel to help out Sakuya.

The games combat will be similar to the original but you’ll be able to use the DS’s touchscreen to slash enemies and grow trees. The paint strokes that worked so well on the Wii will return, some would say a natural fit for the Nintendo DS’s screen.

The game will also have a partner system to aid you in your quest; however they’ll also hinder you if you don’t do things right. The game will be produced by Motohide Eshiro and directed by Kuniomi Matsushita. In fact Matsushita wanted a portable Okami so much he created a prototype to show off to Eshiro to get him on board.

Matsushita hopes that because the game is on the DS it’ll reach a wider audience and so more people can experience the game.

Okamiden has a tentative 2010 release date
