The first screens of DS developer Shinens debut 3DS romp, Nano Assault, have been released

Shin’en is famous for its arcade shooter series Nanostray on the DS, and it looks like Nano Assault will be in very much the same vein. The original Nanostray games were hailed for pushing the DS’s tech and providing a fun, high score-based shooter.

Nintendo 3DS Blog has posted the first six screens of the game, so check them out.

A Majesco press release says the game takes place within a microscopic cell system and you take control of a Nanite ship tasked with destroying alien cell clusters.

By the looks of the screens, Nano Assault will make use of 3DS’s 3D effect with planetoids-like structures in the background of the action that you can travel across in any direction. This breaks from the original games, as in those you could only travel in one direction.

There will be 32 different stages and the game is expected to be released sometime around Spring.
