Guild 01’s first trailer might well have revealed Level-5’s intentions to release the game outside of Japan, if my amateur sluething is as good as I think it is. While the entire six minute trailer features Japanese commentary by the games’ four designers, there are a whole bunch of English language art assets in the Crimson Shroud portion of the trailer. Too much for it to just be that weird Japanese obsession with substituting arbitrary words with English because it’s mad cute, or something like that. Additionally the designer’s credits are entirely in English, which is bizarre considering the rest of the trailer’s “meta” written assets are in Kanji. Check the trailer out below, then continue reading for some gameplay analysis.
So first things first, the trailer has finally granted my wish of how Air Porter plays. The coloured luggage rotating around the esclator belts which you can drop down reminds me of those games where there are three trucks on three levels, and you have to alter the central bridge to path them correctly. Except with the finesse of that control exchanged for a focus on multitasking. It is interesting that even the trailer shows only a few seconds of gameplay yet quite a bit of a plane’s upgrade screen, perhaps implying that the focus is not on the central game mechanics but rathter the wrapper that presents them?
What I’m saying is that this could be puzzle quest in an airport. The other main take aways is that Kahai Shojou’s movement looks controllable, 2010 Yar’s Revenge style, as well as that the Recettear derivative’s art looks really awkward in motion.
It's Black, Back Again.
If these aren't the coolest graphics...
