FIFA on the Switch will be FIFA 18, developed by team in Vancouver

The announcement of FIFA coming to the Nintendo Switch at the Switch Presentation in Tokyo was all sorts of vague. Since then rumours have been circling about just what version of FIFA the Switch is getting. Will it be FIFA 18? Running on a current Frostbite engine? Could it be like the flash game Stick Soccer?

Today EA have confirmed again that the game is a custom-built version of FIFA, but it will be FIFA 18 and that’s why the release is so far away.

The game is also being developed by the FIFA development team in Vancouver, the same team who make the other versions.

It’s probably less important to worry about what engine the game is running and focus more on things like Ultimate Team being included as well.

Great news not just for Fifa games but Switchers in general. Shows that at the very least EA is preparing to have a decent go with the Switch which can only mean good things for their other titles!

Madden, Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront next please!!

If they include the single player ‘campaign’ mode then I’m sold. Make it happen EA!

Better a simultaneous release of FIFA 18 with the other consoles than a late release of FIFA 17. This bodes well although hopefully it isn’t too different from your standard FIFA fare.
