It's not like it wasn't going to happen, now was it?
The latest game in the FIFA series, FIFA 13 has been revealed to be coming to the Wii U. It was rumoured a while back, but the latest issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine has confirmed it.
Naturally the Wii U version will make use of the new GamePad but it’ll be a lot more than just a simple mini-map. The GamePad will be used for tackling, passing and shooting. You’ll be able to manage your team, take free kicks and of course see all the stats you’d ever want to see.
Touchscreen tackling will let you tap on a player to switch to them and then choose your tackling target. Passing is much the same idea, however shooting takes things to the next level. If you shake the controller or click the left analogue stick you can bring up the goal on the screen and place your shot with a simple tap.
There’s an entirely new free kick and penalty system too, you’ll be able to lift up the GamePad and look through the scroll to aim the ball, put a curve on it and take the shot.
Lastly on the managing side of thing you’ll be able not only look up the stats of each play on the GamePad screen but also adjust your strategy on the fly and see what’s working and what’s not. There’s even the possibility to motivate your team at half time by giving them a speech, that or you can call them a bunch of drongos. The choice is up to you.
There are no screenshots of the game online yet, we’ll have to wait for the magazine to drop but it’s said to be the ‘best looking’ version of FIFA 13.
See how much you did, or didn't play things.
