Exclusive: 90s kids rejoice! A*mazing is back thanks to Nintendo and Channel Seven
It’s time to wear your cap backwards, put a fresh set of batteries in the Game Boy because A*mazing is making a return to television screens after 17 years.
Today Channel Seven, Endemol Australia and Nintendo Australia have announced that the TV show that captivated a generation weekday afternoons will be returning after Easter on Channel Seven. Schools from New South Wales will have to use social media to fight for their right to get on the show. Each subsequent season willl move from state to state.
The mazes which featured in the show are this time going to be bigger than ever with modern technology and touch screens integrated into the game this time around, kids who play will still have to hunt and find the old fashioned way through cars, dunnies and more just like before.
While some new things are expected, some things will remain the same with James Sherry returning to host the show. He’s been fighting to get the show back for sometime and in the release says “I can’t wait to see how the game plays for a new era”.
Nintendo is back as well with the contestants competing against each other with Wii U titles during Monday to Thursday and every Friday on the show the Nintendo 64 or Super Nintendo Entertainment System will be dusted off to see if kids today still can rock Cruis’n USA, Mario Paint Swatter and more surprise games.
The new show’s Facebook page is not yet fully live but details of how your school can get involved, the mazes and just what will replace the giant keyboard will be revealed over the coming weeks.
We’ve included an old episode from YouTube below to get you hyped!
This is amazing (no pun intended!)… 😮 and if they play their cards right, this could be a *brilliant* marketing strategy for Nintendo.
The kids game shows in recent years have been quite awful but I hope that this can recapture the magic of the original series.
It’s just a shame that this show will be broadcast in SD. The A/V quality of free to air television in this country is puke-worthy.
You do know that this is an April fool’s joke right?
Damn I’m gullible. 😛
This April Fools joke hurts the hearts of many adults
You have crushed my soul and my childhood, you horrible, horrible people.
I know this is a joke but I reckon it would be a commercial success.
Because he traumatised everybody with this article I nominate Daniel Vuckovic to start a petition to get this bad boy back on the air.
Low blow, seriously. This was posted before April 1st for those in Perth!
Oh man, this would have been cool. Damn you April Fools!
Oh man, right in the feels, Daniel! You had me eating out of the palm of your hand, haha!
Seriously though, good job with this!
