Satoru Iwata has proudly declared the launch of the DSi handheld in Europe and the USA a huge success, with a combined figure of 600,000 units sold over the weekend of its release. The spunky new handheld went on sale on April 3rd and 5th in Europe and America respectively. The distribution of sales was about even, with 300,000 units being sold within each territory. The realization of the staggering figure at todays Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan luncheon comes as music to Nintendos ears, who are experiencing a slump in sales across all software and hardware in Japan- but namely below-par performance from the Wii.
