escapeVektor coming to 3DS and Vita, WiiWare chapters cancelled

Developer rolls future chapters into a single release for the new handhelds.

Aside from the seminal myNotebook series (now available in six colours) Nnooo have plenty to be proud of with their recent WiiWare release, escapeVektor. It’s probably not too much of a jump to call it one of the best WiiWare releases of the last year.

However, it doesn’t seem like Nnooo have found the success they deserve on WiiWare, as they have cancelled future chapters on the service in favour of Vita and Nintendo 3DS ports. By consolidating the product they hope to “reach a wider audience” than they would get on WiiWare, so bad luck to anyone who was chomping at the bit for Chapter Two. You might be waiting for a while.
Its heartening however that the company seems committed to making these ports right. Both versions will have more enemies, stages and thankfully, online leaderboards. On the 3DS specifically, the background will “pulse” in the 3D in time with the music’s beat, while on the VITA the developer is experimenting with touch on the front and back screens.

The two ports don’t have a date set, although press will be getting hands on with both consoles at GDC in March, so look forward to more impressions there.

Maybe pour one out for WiiWare too.
