Disney Interactive Studios has revealed Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion will be the first third-party game in North America to receive both a retail and eShop release.

The 3DS title touted as a tribute to Sega’s Illusion series of Mickey Mouse games will be released across the US on the 18th of November (which also happens to be the release date of the Wii U).

Currently there is no information regarding a digital release of Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion in Europe, or even Japan.

If either of these regions receives the green light to digitalise Power of Illusion then maybe, just maybe, the trend will migrate across to Australia and we’ll be playing it without the assistance of a game card in no time.

The retail, and currently only, version of Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for Australia is due out on the 22nd of November.

Although the status of third party 3DS retail games on the eShop is still up in the air, from now onwards, all future first-party 3DS retail games will be released in eShop form as well.

If all this talk of Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion has excited you, be sure to check out our hands-on with the game from earlier this year if you haven’t already.

More updates soon.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
