Epic Mickey platforming inspired by Mario
Warren Spector says game draws inspiration from Nintendo greats
In a recent interview, Warren Spector, director of Disney Epic Mickey has stated that the game is inspired by Nintendo greats in both Mario and Zelda. However, could the platforming present possibly live up to Nintendo’s beloved plumber?
Well according to title producer, Raul Ramirez the answer is yes. He held nothing back, stating that the game does “a really good job… it does stand up to those [Mario platforming]”. Ramirez did quickly clarify that this game is not in competition with Mario as a platformer, but rather that the developers are choosing to pay homage to the Mario legacy.
Platforming at times will require some extra skill. A player may need to use a spin attack after executing a double jump to reach an otherwise unreachable area or they may have to move across difficult platform challenges to progress through the game. These were just two of the scenarios Ramirez listed in which additional skill may be required.
Disney Epic Mickey currently has no official Australian release date, but with a near worldwide release for Europe and North America in late November we can mostly likely expect it at a similar date.
