Music and fitness titles were also very weak, with their falling sales accounting for 90% of Januarys downturn in sales

While we havent had a chance to review No More Heroes 2 yet, our friends in the games press have given it some very lofty scores. However, the North American people dont seem to be convinced, with only 30,000 sales in its debut week. After many third-party core titles receiving unfortunate sales last year on the Wii, its not a a great start for the year.

Also not looking too hot are music and fitness game sales. However, the EEDAR attributes the health side of this to older games becoming passing fads. They figure that Natal and Arc might revitalize the genre in late 2010 and early 2011, though. Amongst all this, Wii Fit still managed to sell a very healthy 555,000 copies in January, even if it wasnt quite as good as the 785,000 from the same time last year.

The research group believes that the lineup of titles on HD systems, such as heavy hitters like BioShock 2, God of War II, and Final Fantasy XIII, will still make this quarter fairly good, partially due to the continued grown of these systems last year.
