EA waiting to see demand before making more Switch games
Electronic Arts are back to their old tricks again. After releasing FIFA 18 on the Nintendo Switch just a couple of months ago, the company now says that it’ll wait until the Switch has been on the market a full year before deciding on whether to make any more games for the console beside FIFA 18.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, EA’s finance chief said it was too soon to judge the success of FIFA on the console and that it wants to “fully understand what the demand is” before they make any more decisions about making more games, let alone starting to develop them.

This news does, however, contradict what EA has said about the system in the past. Andrew Wilson the CEO of Electronic Arts said in May that;
We continue to be bullish on it and are looking at other titles that we might bring to the Switch
Six months is a long time ago and we don’t know how well or poorly FIFA 18 sold, this could have changed their outlook.
Update: Original article headline attributed “no rush” quote to EA, this has been updated.
Grrrr!!!!!
(Just clicking the button wasn’t enough to express my frustration)
Electronic Arts should change their name to Electronic Business, as they have nothing to do with expanding ideas within the medium of video games anymore. ‘Art’ involves risk and experimentation, something EA haven’t had for years.
Grrrrring with you
I really want to boycott EAGames now but some are so good..
Come on EA, you coughed up a sub-par FIFA and you blame us for the poor sales? I hope Doom, Skyrim and LA Noire etc sell like hotcakes to prove you guys wrong.
Haven’t seen any copies of FIFA 18 after this announcement. By EA saying things like this, it erodes confidence in the market for shopkeepers and customers to actually buy this game and further games.
Pretty silly really, unless this comment is supposed to be a ‘kick up the bum’ to get people to buy copies. Much more positive ways to do that though… curious.
