EA Sports is confident in the systems abilities after receiving dev kits

Vice President of EA Andrew Wilson had the following to say regarding the power of the Wii U: "The short answer is yes [we have a better idea of Wii U’s power]; the longer answer is not quite," said Wilson. "As every new piece of hardware and every new development library comes through we get a greater understanding of the power. With our early research we had been very happy with the output of the box and we expect that that will only go up moving forward."

Although it’s still too early to really get a grasp of how much the Wii U can do, the flowing accolades from many developers the world over are very encouraging. It’s also a good idea to remember that launch titles will not squeeze as much out of the console as, say, a title released 2-3 years into the console’s life cycle. So bear that in mind.

EA’s boss John Riccitiello talks Wii U at Nintendo’s E3 2011 conference.

As far as online goes, EA is under "very strict NDAs" (non-disclosure agreements) not to reveal the workings of the online systems, but Wilson did mention an "openness and willingness" by Nintendo to listen to their developer and publisher partners.

Wilson is also keen on getting FIFA 13 out for the Wii U’s launch, which is markedly ambitious considering the game isn’t even in development yet. Hey, you have to give the guy credit for his enthusiasm!
