EA reveals Wii U and Origin Account Link, Nintendo Network ID revealed

Advertisement

We’re under a month from the American launch of the Wii U and we still not next to nothing about how the online features of the Wii U will function. If you’ve ever wanted to know though how EA’s titles are going to work on Wii U though, we now know that.

EA have updated their privacy policy to include references to the online system of the Wii U and how you’ll need to agree to pass on your details to EA to setup an Origin account. So if you’re picking up Mass Effect 3 or FIFA 13 pay attention.

Here’s what the updated privacy policy says;
If you sign up to play EA games through a Nintendo Wii U console, your Nintendo account information will be provided to EA so that we can establish an Origin Account for you. You need an Origin Account to play EA’s titles online. By signing up to play EA’s titles, you agree that limited user account information can be transferred to EA. Information transferred to EA includes your Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language and date of birth but does not include credit card number or other financial account information.
So nothing too different from the HD consoles then, nor from any EA title on the PC either. This policy does also make mention of a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID. There’s something we’ve been longing to here.

Hopefully Nintendo will get on board the Nintendo Direct train and choo-choo our way with some online details.
