New Pokémon and new gym leader revealed too.
It’s only been a week since the last Pokémon Direct so we weren’t expecting much about Pokémon Sword and Shield – but we got some anyway.
Only a couple of new snippets made the news, the first being that the Pokeball controller from Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee can be used with Sword and Shield to hold a Pokémon – but it can’t be used as a controller.
Another gym leader, Nessa was revealed as well – she’s a water type leader.
We also learned from the Treehouse live stream after the show that not all Pokémon will carry over to the new game. When the Pokémon Home cloud service comes in the future only games that are in the Galar region Pokédex will be able to be brought into the game. They say they’ve done this for technical and balance reasons although it is a bit of a downer.
A whole bunch of smaller information, including new Pokémon (which we don’t have art for), were also shown off in the demo at E3 2019. Head to our friends Serebii for all the minutiae.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will be on Treehouse immediately following this Direct. Maybe we’ll see even more revealed there.
Here’s all the footage from Treehouse to see the game in action.
