E3 2014: The party never stops with Mario Party 10 on Wii U

Mario Party is back and this time the party comes to the Wii U.

Following a similar format to it’s predecessor on the Wii, Mario Party 10 is bringing back the minigame fun, but this time things are a little different.

Players travel around the board together and compete in minigames trying to collect more mini-stars than their opponents. That is unless Bowser has anything to say about it. Oh, and the twist is that this time around you can control Bowser!

In this special ‘Bowser Party’ mode, it’s the first time players have been given control over how a minigame might play out.

Some examples show in today’s trailer include the player controlling Bowser using the Gamepad to shoot fireballs at the others who are desperately trying to survive on the TV screen, a pinball table with big spiked balls being hit around by flippers controlled by Bowser and even a giant electrified hamster wheel being controlled by the hands of the evil King of the Koopas.

This new level of control means some minigames might not have the same kind of predictability as they do when being controlled by the AI.

Featuring a slew of new attractions and minigames Mario Party 10 is yet to get a release date.

Video games are not my forte. I'm not very good at video games. If you walked up to me in the streets and exclaimed “Hey! You suck at video games!” I would not call you a liar. They are, however, one of my favourite things and classic Nintendo titles are what I like best. Sure I haven't finished New Super Mario Bros. U yet and I've had the game since launch, but that doesn't mean I don't get the same fuzzy feelings as you when I play it.

Players moving around the board together? Is this a Mario Party 9 spin off? No one liked that game!

Blarg, not the car again. I know that dice rolls are rigged and it’s all about the minigames, but at least let me choose where I go.

I know it’s not the popular opinion but I quite liked Mario Party 9 and I’m pleased to see it looks like MP10 will be building on it.

    Bring on the Bowser Party!

Is that so? So there are actual boards where each player can take different routes from each other like in say, Mario Party 3? That is okay then.

I read it on a few message boards but now that I look for it I can’t find anything to support that now. I really hope I was right because I don’t want to go back to the single car thing again.
