A new IP was revealed on tonight’s Nintendo Digital Event at E3 with Splatoon, a 4v4 paintball arena team based shooter made exclusively for the Wii U.

Using paint guns, teams of players aim can cover the arena with their team’s paint which leads to victory and also gives the entire team tactical advantages.

Players can transform between a human player and a squid, with each form offering different strategies and advantages for the player and their team mates.

In squid form, players can travel quickly through their own team’s paint to traverse the battlefield, while in human form players can shoot other players and spread their paint for squid team mates to travel through.

Players can also use the GamePad to gain a tactical advantage and see how their team is going in covering the map with their team’s paint.

Splatoon employs an incredibly stylish visual style, with brightly coloured scenery and characters and squids.
