E3 2014: Hyrule Warriors gets dated, playable Midna and Zelda
Hot off the heels of the announcement that Impa was a playable character, Nintendo and Tecmo Koei have announced that two more playable characters will be joining Link in his battles across Hyrule.
Zelda and Midna will both be playable characters in Hyrule Warriors. Zelda fights with her now signature rapier and light magic, even incorporating the powers into a bow and arrow too. Midna appears in her animal form, using her wolf to take down enemies as well as summoning creatures and powers from her home realm to perform powerful area of effect attacks.
The game also features a deep progression system that allows players to earn Rupees and spend them on upgrades and new attacks. Co-operative mode has been confirmed, and while it’s local co-operative play only, each player gets to view the action on their own screen through both the TV and the GamePad.
The game also got a new trailer, showing off all the new announcements.
Hyrule Warriors will be launching sometime in late September. We’ll be sure to update you when we get local release details for Australia. Screenshots are provided below for your convenience too.
I hope this supports some kind of split screen mode for those that simply don’t want to simultaneously look at a teeny tiny screen or hold a bulky heavy device.
Since Tecmo Koei’s existing Wii U titles like Fist of the North Star also have the option to just split the TV screen, I’m sure this will too.
