E3 2012: Wii U to launch in white only, black later

Up to last week we knew there was a white Wii U system, and this week we were introduced to a black one during Nintendo’s Pre E3 Nintendo Direct episode.

However, according to a Destructoid report, a representative of Nintendo at their booth has told them the black Wii U won’t be available at launch.

Nintendo’s websites, its E3 press site and tons of gaming media out there show off both the white and black models. This move would seem weird; then again it took literally years for the black Wii to come out.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Thats a rather stupid move if true. The 3DS even launched in 3 colours, why not the WiiU? I was pretty excited for the black to go in with the rest of my hifi equipment.

Thats kinda stupid – this means I will wait for black wii u? I don’t want the white one, I already have a white wii. What’s with this idiotic limitation?

I was looking forward to a black one. My 360 and PS3 are black next to my black tv, and the Wii looks so out of place being white. So not only will the Wii U not come in black at launch, but it won’t stand vertical either.
