E3 2012: Wii U Launch Window could be up to 4 months long

Wii U games labelled for release within the “launch period” could be released up to four months after the console launches.

Speaking to IGN, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime says that “Everything that we’ve shown from a first-party perspective is definitely launch window”. That means everything Nintendo showed at E3 could be released at launch “plus the following three to four months”.

Nintendo’s list of Wii U games releases yesterday specifically mentions Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, Project P-100 and Wii Fit U as launch window games. However with this new information it means that anything from Nintendo could possibly be released from launch this holiday into 2013. Really though, can we play them all?

Pikmin 3 better be a launch title. I want something other than Mario to take home. And Rayman Legends appears to be a 2013 release so there goes my third purchase as well. 😐

Four month window puts us into march/April 2013 doesn’t it? 2 to 3 months from another e3. Can u imagine the 2013 conference? U know smash bros will b there, u know they will b onto a Zelda, Mario kart, metroid, animal crossing, donkey kong and by then they will have a better grasp on the hardware. Am I dreaming here or does this seem logical? All will be forgiven for this years underwhelming effort if they dish that up next year.
