E3 2012: Nintendo unearths Pikmin 3 for Wii U
After years of waiting Nintendo and more specifically Shigeru Miyamoto has finally taken the wraps off Pikmin 3. It’s coming to the Wii U, possibly for launch. The game was demoed live on stage with Miyamoto and Bill Trinen running through some of the new features the game has while also elaborating on the new characters and Pikmin types as well.
The game is fully playable with the Wii U Gamepad, of course, but Nintendo also showed off playing the game with the classic Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk combination. Naturally you don’t want to hear about that, you already know how to play Pikmin classically. So what’s new on the Gamepad? You’ll be able to keep track of all your Pikmin with an overhead map on the touch screen and move to where they are quickly and simply. You’ll be able to review mission data on the Gamepad as well so you can improve your times on repeat playthroughs.
Most importantly there is a new type of Pikmin in the house, the Rock Pikmin. They’re able to crack hard outer shells of enemies and break through barriers.
This of course is all in stunning HD with the game looking amazing. We’ve included a trailer below as well as screenshots. It does look quite good. Don’t you agree?
Not sold on the rock Pikmin, dont feel like your regular Pikmin..
That being said, FINALLY!! Pikmin 3 is coming!! Huzzah!
Seems that there isn’t any multiplayer. Doesn’t really matter to me, I have yet to play a Pikmin game, still not sure if it is my cup of tea or not.
