In an interview with Nikkei newspaper, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has said "I don’t think we can charge the same price as we currently do for the Wii,” suggesting that the company plans to peg the Wii U’s entry price higher than the Wii’s. Having said that, EB Games Australia has estimated the RRP to be $598, which seems a bit high. We think a price in the $399-to-$499 region is more likely.
Iwata also said that he doesn’t "think the Wii is going anywhere anytime soon." So the Wii will probably continue to be offered for a limited time after the Wii U hits shelves in 2012.
