E3 2010: Rayman Origins unveiled in glorious 2D
After a long wait, the next main series Rayman will indeed reveal the origins of its titular character
Many fans of the Rayman franchise were worried about what the introduction of the Raving Rabbids games would mean for potential solo games in the future of the series. The Rabbids have since split with the limbless hero, and Ubisoft’s announcements today of both Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time and Rayman Origins should put these fears to rest.
Rayman Origins is a new 2D adventure that takes the player back to the very beginning of the Rayman’s story, his actual creation, and follows him as he befriends Globox. The trailer below shows off the stunning art in the game, an achievement quite remarkable considering only five people have been involved in its creation.
As of yet no platforms have been announced for the game; we’re hopeful for a Wii release, although the fact that it seems like something targeted at digital distribution does lessen the chance of that.
