Video game accessory giant Performance Designed Products LLC ("PDP") has just announced a partnership with Nintendo to bring licensed accessories to the Wii and DS. Their first product will be an online chat headset for the Wii called the Headbanger.

It will feature a high-quality noise cancelling microphone on a flexible boom (usable on either ear), mute and volume controls, LED status indicators and and aesthetic matching the Wii console. Its not yet known what kind of connection the headset will use to interface with to the Wii, but well let you know as more details (and the first images) come through.

Conduit 2 will be one of the first games to support the peripheral. Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer at High Voltage Software, is excited about the device. "Being able to bring headset network chat to Conduit 2 on Wii is a huge win for us, and for Wii gamers," he says. "By incorporating the new Wii compatible headset into Conduit 2, we are able to immerse gamers into the action like never before."

The Headbanger Headset will be released by October across North America and Europe.
