For the first time in a Mario sports game, four sports will be included on one game disc

Nintendo has revealed this morning their latest Mario-themed sports title, Mario Sports Mix for Wii. The game will see four sports make their move to the Mushroom Kingdom – volleyball, basketball, ice hockey and dodgeball.

As you would expect, each sport will have unique Mario-style twists, like coins and special items, to add to the craziness. Gathering coins, for example, will net players bonus points for scoring regular points or goals. Some items featured include the Koopa Shell (to knock out opponents) and the Mini Mushroom (to shrink the ball on the field).

Each character also has unstoppable signature moves, like Mario shooting fireballs and Peach using a heart-filled attack. Also, each field or court of play will be dynamic, dealing both helpful and adverse actions to keep players on their toes.

The game can be played with up to three players cooperatively, or up to four players competitively in a two-on-two match. It is bound for a 2011 release.
