At the end of Nintendo’s major press conference, Cammie Dunnaway capped off the morning’s presentation in an otherwise Mario-heavy series of new games with the announcement of Super Mario Galaxy 2, declaring “If you think that’s all the Mario news you can handle, think again…For the first time, a second full 3D Mario game is going to appear on a single Nintendo console”.
The sequel features the same great visuals, 3D spherical planet-faring platforming and pseudo-2D levels as well as the purple coin collection of the original, but brings along Mario’s partner and fan super-favourite Yoshi along for the ride. For the first time on Wii, players will be able to jump on a Yoshi egg to unleash everyone’s favourite green dinosaur, and ride him around levels. The announcement of the game was the highlight of Nintendo’s press event, and the jewel in the crown of jam-packed line-up of new games.
Overnight, Nintendo has changed the availability date and purchase methods for the Nintendo Sound Clock…
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
