E3 09: LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 announced
The LEGO games are coming thick and fast with the LEGO Harry Potter officially announced
Rumoured no more, the Harry Potter franchise is the next franchise to be LEGO’d. LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is based on the first four Harry Potter books and movies, and follows Harry’s first four years at Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The game is being developed by TT Games who have worked on all previous LEGO games and published by Warner Bros Interactive for release in 2010.
Details on just how the game will play are scarce at the moment but you’ll be playing through the game as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they attend lessons, cast spells, mix potions, fly on broomsticks and complete tasks to earn house points. Iconic places from series including Hogwarts castle, Diagon Alley, the Forbidden Forest and the village of Hogsmeade will all feature.
“With LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 1-4 we are creating an open, wide-ranging experience within Hogwarts that is full of fun and LEGO magic,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “Harry Potter is one of the most beloved and well-respected characters, and we look forward to bringing gamers a new way of interacting in the universe with the LEGO games’ great humour and exploration.”
With a new focus on exploration, we hope the game won’t be a carbon copy of the LEGO games before it, perhaps Harry Potter can bring a new freshness to the LEGO games.
