At EA’s major conference at E3 in Los Angeles this morning, Peter Moore was jubilant that their exercise game for Wii has been a success and that EA Sports’ renewed approach to developing for the console has shown that “games can be a positive force, and the response to Sports Active has been incredible”. Moore offered an overview of the Sports Active exercise regime, with a video montage of a dozen women who tracked their progress with the software, who cited their positive experiences with losing weight and gaining fitness.
In response to the sales success of the title, EA Sports will be releasing an expansion which includes 30 new exercises with increased attention to working the body core- a feature that Moore said was requested by early adopters of the original. The new exercise will offer ‘challenge and variety’ such as a new water skiing mini game, and a range of new locales such as a tropical setting. The expansion will be out later this year, ready for people to get a head start on next year’s new year’s resolutions.
