DSi Ware has launched in Japan, the downloable service which replicates the WiiWare functionality but on a portable basis has come as an early Christmas for DSi owners in Japan and for us. With the complimentary 1000 points Nintendo has given us weve been able to download Moving Memo, Utsusu Made in Wario, The Bird and Bean and the Paper Areoplane games. However, Is the content on the store worth your money? Find out inside.

Moving Memo

Compared to some of the offerings in the store it seems that this title (not a game you see) should actually cost money as its filled with so many goodies. In essence the Moving Memo allows you to create moving (animated) memos using your DSi touch screen, all memos are in black and white (and all shades in between) but that doesnt stop the program from being VERY cool. Not only can you draw a memo and animate it but you can add sounds from the microphone and a grey scale picture from the camera as well. But what can you do with them after you are done I hear you say, well you can either assign them to a date on the calendar or upload them online. Now Ill be first to admit Im not very artistic but some people are and youre able to show the world your moving memos by uploading them. The website to which the drawings end up on can be found here. Two examples from the site are below;

The Moving Memo has only been out a day and the artistic creations coming from it already are great, a must download and to think it’s free.

Utsusu Made in Wario

What would be a console launch without a Wario game, well ok that might not be true for everything but the DSi Ware does have a Wario game and its taking use of all the new features of the DSi including the camera. The game takes a photo of you and then uses your outline or shillioute to play micro games. Which all sounds good… in theory but it seems depending on your face and light conditions results may vary well have to keep trying and give you more impressions on it later as we cant get it to work. But we hold high hopes.

The Bird and the Bean

Perhaps one first glance this game looks a bit naff, but play it for a bit and its one of those games that while pretty simple is addictive and fun to play over and over. As fruit drops from the sky you, as the bird, must use your angled tongue to catch them before it hit the ground and destroy it. There is a row of blocks as the floor, and once they are gone you cant move off the one youre on and it gets harder and harder. Of course even though you cant move you can still catch the fruit and then after a while a Block fairy will come down and replace blocks for you. As I said this game starts off slow but even a minute in it ramps up one to try as its only 200 points.

Paper Aeroplane

Like the Bird and the Bean game the Paper Aeroplane is fun in its simplicity but dont just expect the single mode that you got in Wario Ware, this version not only comes with that mode, over two screens, but also different time trial courses in which you have to navigate the plane through different courses in the best time possible but also a two player competitive mode. With this competitive mode you use one DSi, one person uses the D-Pad the other Y and A buttons to navigate. Graphics remain unchanged from the Gameboy Advance iteration.
