Reggie has confirmed, while speaking to US press, that the US will have quite a wait for the DSi. Not releasing until later in 2009 has said that this is to ensure that Nintendo can continue selling the DS Lite throughout the holiday season in the US. People have suspected that Nintendo is trying to rival the iPhone and other similar products by implementing internet browsing and camera capabilities into the DS, however Reggie clarified that this is not Nintendo’s intention. He has told the press that the camera is there simply to supplement the gameplay, and to be an “”interactive camera for your everyday life””. Source: Kotaku
