The figures are in and its a surprise to say the least. Surprising on two fronts with the DS selling a record 613,000 units in the month of February in the US. The previous record was a mere 597,000 set last year in the same month. Wii sales have chugged along but Nintendo cites shortages as the reason for the figures not being as high as they could have been. Only 397,000 consoles were shifted, positioning the Wii under the Xbox 360 which sold 422,000 consoles. The Playstation 3 was still behind in third, by not much, on 360,000.
On the software side of things, a batch of new releases hasnt slowed down the New Super Mario Bros. Wii juggernaut with another half-a-million copies shifting in the month. Just Dance (sigh) and Wii Sports Resort shifted huge numbers, too, as a rush of new titles like Bioshock 2, Dantes Inferno and Heavy Rain mixed up the top ten.
