Our good mate David Wildgoose at Kotaku has done his homework and found out that the Wii sold 730,000 units last year, adding to the growing total of 1.7 million Wii consoles sold in the country. Last year was a record-setter for hardware sales in Australia, and the healthy figures for Wii and DS show that both systems have plenty of life left in them at retail.
Nintendo once again showed the competition how to sell hardware, as Microsoft and Sony were left to squabble over second place. Initial reports that Sony had some of the greatest market growth with the PS3 proved unfounded when it was learnt that a significant portion of those consoles were given away in promotional offers.
