An FAQ posted on the new Dragon Quest X website has revealed some startling details about the game that weren’t made clear by yesterday’s press conference and have some people worried. It seems that despite series’ creator Yuji Horii’s reassurances that the game shouldn’t scare people who don’t like MMO’s, the game will require the player to both pay a monthly fee and stay logged into the servers to progress past the first few hours of the game.
In light of these revelations, Horii’s assurances that the game can be completed from start to finish with a party comprised entirely of NPCs seem a tad disingenuous, in spirit at least. In particular, his assurances regarding the ability to “quickly logout”. Do these MMO-esque features put you off, or make you more excited at the prospect of more dedicated online games for the Wii and Wii U?
