The next eagerly awaited installment in the Dragon Quest series has sold over two million, three hundred forty-four thousand, four hundred and forty copies on its first two days on sale.
For those playing at home, that’s 2,343,440 and yes, Dragon Quest is kind of a big deal in Japan, so big in fact it has out sold even Pokemon Diamond and Pearl’s first week sales. That means it now has the best opening of any Nintendo DS game on the market. The previous game in the series, Dragon Quest VIII on PlayStation 2, was just a smidgen under this with 2,237,000 copies.
Expect to see a big boost in Nintendo DSi (and less so DS Lite) sales this week to coincide with the launch. And yes, like anything popular there were lines…
