The Doctor is in – Dr. Luigi coming to Wii U in 2014

Doctor Luigi is in the house.

Luigi’s 30th anniversary may almost be over but that doesn’t mean the Year of Luigi is.

Continuing the celebration into 2014, Nintendo have announced Dr Luigi, another classic Mario game for him to star in. Dr Luigi is not the usual virus busting puzzle game though. Instead of the normal two coloured pills that Mario uses, Luigi has L shaped pills to add a new challenge. The new pills make things easy at first, giving you a line of one colour, but as the difficulty ramps up things may get hectic.

Online multiplayer will be included so you can challenge your friends and people from all over the world. If you manage to link a combo while playing against someone else your opponent gets a surprise of their next pill colours being changed just before they can use it, making things a little harder for them.

Those who have played the Brain Buster game mode from Brain Training on the DS might be happy to see that it will be a playable mode using the Gamepad touchscreen. If you like your Dr Mario ‘classic style’ fear not as the traditional mode is also available to play. Dr. Luigi is available this January in Europe and hopefully Australia too.

Video games are not my forte. I'm not very good at video games. If you walked up to me in the streets and exclaimed “Hey! You suck at video games!” I would not call you a liar. They are, however, one of my favourite things and classic Nintendo titles are what I like best. Sure I haven't finished New Super Mario Bros. U yet and I've had the game since launch, but that doesn't mean I don't get the same fuzzy feelings as you when I play it.
