Sad news this morning as its been revealed that Disney has closed down famed developer LucasArts.

Over 150 people have lost their jobs and both titles the studio had in development Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault have been cancelled. It could be possible for these two games development to be licensed out to other developers.

The name LucasArts will still be used on future licensed out titles says Disney.

While LucasArts’ output hasn’t been stellar in the past few years they will be remembered for over 30 years of high quality titles. Adventure games like Maniac Mansion, the Monkey Island series, Sam and Max series and Grim Fandango.

Star Wars games including X-Wing, Rebel Assault, Shadows of the Empire, the Rouge Squadron series and more will be remembered fondly by many. There really is too many to list.

LucasArts was acquired last year by Disney when they purchased everything from LucasFilm.
