Disney Infinity is no more, canned as Disney moves from developing

Avalanche Software to close.

Disney has landed some devastating news today by announcing the end of the Disney Infinity toys-to-life games. Support for the games will end in June with finished play-sets in the can still to release.

Not only have they canned the games and figures but Disney is moving away from the “self published console business” completely and will move to a licensing model. This means more Disney owned properties developed by third parties like Star Wars Battlefront and Disney Crossy Road.

This also means that Avalanche Software will also be closing, as the studio behind the games and figures over 300 will lose their jobs.

“Our goal for Disney Infinity was to bring the best of Disney storytelling to life in homes around the world, and with your support we accomplished that, We hope you had as much fun playing the game as we had making it.” reads an official message left on the companies blog.

The final Disney Infinity releases will be based around Alice Through The Looking Glass and Finding Dory.

Forever on our shelves, Disney Infinity.
