Well, heres one of the reasons the games release was delayed, at least…
Reuben Langdon, the actor behind the voice of Disaster’s Evans, wrote in his blog that one of the delays of the game’s unnaturally long development cycle was because the American audience may not understand the dialogue completely, and that there would be two versions of the game.
“…much later in the production, Nintendo bought out Monolith and Nintendo of America decided that the dialogue as is wouldn’t fly with America audiences,” wrote Langdon. So almost a year later the original cast was brought in to re-record a lot of their lines. Probably the most noticeable change was changing STORM to SURGE. A lot of the other changes were pretty minor just changing sentence structure and other stupid stuff.”
Continuing on, he wrote that there was two versions of the game planned: One for Japan, with the other for Westerners. …last I heard there were actually gonna be 2 versions of the game. I think the Japanese release stuck with the original version the one we (just Cause) created together with Monolith. Not sure about the European version, whether they went with the original or the Nintendo of America rewrite version.”
It certainly is interesting to see Nintendo of America’s handling of the game, which still hasn’t seen release over there yet, that’s for sure.
