Koizumi explains that his brainstorming of ideas has finally started to narrow down into tangible concepts. "As it turns out, I have too many ideas at the moment for Mario games on Wii U," he said. "I’m going to have to start narrowing them down and thinking about which ideas might work well together so that the whole system will be an enjoyable experience rather than a hodgepodge of ideas."
The question remains, however; will they pursue a Super Mario Galaxy theme, with the linear planetoid-based platforming? Or is it time for something unprecedented? After all, the ’New Super Mario Bros. Mii’ shown at the last E3 conference was merely a tech demo. It’s entirely possible but this was shown simply to placate the crowd – Koizumi might have something completely unexpected up his sleeves.
