Dig Dog coming to the Switch this week, the game developed hands-free
There’s a lot of games coming to the Switch this week, but this one has an interesting story behind it’s development.
Dig Dog rougelike platformer, which doesn’t sound uncommon but there’s two very different things about this one. Dig Dog is controlled with just a stick and one button as you run, dig, jump, stomp and dash to tear up a level to find the bone.
The second interesting thing about Dig Dog is that the game was developed with almost no use of hands on a keyboard. Rusty Moyher, the game’s developer has RSI in his hands. So instead of a keyboard and mouse, he programmed the game using his voice with a microphone. The game’s artwork was also drawn in a hands-free approach by using a hat with a reflector, combined with an IR camera to control a mouse pointer.
Dig Dog is available later this week on April 26th for $5.99.
