Cricket comes to the Wii thanks to Codemasters
Cricket is finally heading to the Wii, but well have to wait just a little bit longer…
Codemasters has announced that it will be bringing Cricket to the Wii finally. Ashes Cricket 2009 will bring the much loved summer sport to the Wii as well as the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. However, the wait for the Wii version will be a bit longer as the Wii version as that version is due to hit later this year, whereas the other versions will launch this winter (summer in the UK). Baffling.
The game is currently in development at Aussie developers Transmission Games. “The Ashes is set to be the sporting event of the summer and it’s great to be producing the official game of the Series,” said Codemasters producer Jamie Firth. “In partnering with the development team at Transmission Games, Ashes Cricket 2009 is a cricket title with an unprecedented heritage that comes from two companies that know and love the sport. The Brian Lara titles became the number one cricket gaming brand for over ten years and it’s a reputation that we fully intend to continue with Ashes Cricket 2009.”
The game will feature all authentic teams, players and stadium. Cricket games on the Wii have been an often requested genre since the Wii was first revealed and it’s good to see it getting an outing finally.
