5th Cell lays off staff, Scribblenauts: Fighting Words cancelled
The developers of Scribblenauts have laid off a huge chunk of its staff after it’s next game Scribblenauts: Fighting Words was cancelled. Warner Bros. the publisher of the Scribblenauts games pulled the pin on the game today.
Speaking to Polygon, CEO of 5th Cell Jeremiah Slaczka has said “WB cancelled Scribblenauts: Fighting Words today so we had to lay off the staff, It happened so quick we’re not sure what the plans are going forward yet.”
Reports earlier had stated that the studio had shut down after a staffer posted on Twitter ‘RIP 5th Cell’. It’s no less devastating for those staff but at least the entire studio is not going down.
An official statement is forthcoming from 5th Cell.
Correction: Our original article had stated 5th Cell was closing, we’ve since learned this isn’t the case and have amended the story. Apologies.

I wish they’d make Lock’s Quest 2.
