Rock singer Courtney Love has claimed that she is pursuing legal action against Activision for use of Kurt Cobain’s, her widow, likeness in Guitar Hero 5, without proper consent. After a flurry of messages on Twitter, Love has announced her wish to take the matter to court.
"WE are going to sue the s**t out of ACtivision [sic] we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises," was one of Love’s more ’family friendly’ tweets. "For the record this Guitar Hero s**t is breach of contract on a Bullys [sic] part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction."
Regardless of how Love’s claim holds up in court, it’s a shame to see yet another video game-related lawsuit. At least it’s not another copyright infringement claim against Nintendo’s Wii Remote. Activision says it has gained the proper rights to use Cobain’s image.
