At the end of the month, the Wii is about to get a whole lot scarier. Project Zero 2: is a remake of a Playstation 2 title released all the way back in 2003. Our American friends would know it as simply Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly however for some bizarre reason, here in Australia, the game was known as Project Zero II: Crimson Butterfly. The Wii Edition shakes things up quite a bit with an all new two player mode as well as motion controls.

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition is a perfect game for both newcomers and series veterans as it is a standalone story that doesn’t have many references or tiebacks to previous games in the series. Playing as Mio, a Japanese twin girl, you must explore a mysterious and cursed village with your twin sister which you stumble upon after following some mystical glowing Crimson Butterfly. Sounds like a sound reason to hang around in a creepy village, right?

Of course, as you’d expect, the girls soon find that the village is not abandoned and that many ghosts of it’s former inhabitants still haunt the grounds. The girls have only one weapon at their disposal – the Camera Obscura, a mysterious camera that takes photos of ghosts and exorcises them.

As you’d expect, this is not a game for the kiddies and our resident horror nut James has called it one of the scariest games he’s ever played (and he’s played a lot). Don’t let that put you off though, the new co-op mode means you can at least play this with a friend and be scared togther!
