No more classic Nintendo titles in future Animal Crossings

Virtual Console rules out possibility.

Remember how the original Animal Crossing included NES games within it?

Well, the series’ creator of Animal Crossing Katsuya Eguchi hasn’t forgotten about them either. So much in fact, he briefly raised the subject in an interview with Kotaku.

“Please consider it’s not happening ever again,” said Eguchi.

“At the time, we didn’t have a Virtual Console system.”

Mr Eguchi went on to explain how the inclusion of NES games was just a bit of fun at the time, and how future titles would not include this feature.

“We thought that playing games inside of a game is kind of funny, and we wanted to do it. But now there’s a Virtual Console where you can play classic games, so we don’t think we will be doing that in future titles.”

That doesn’t mean he’s not open to past Animal Crossing games in newer ones though.

“That might be interesting,” Eguchi laughed.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
