Chess Ultra gets friendly with others on Switch

Many ways to play this game of chess

Ripstone have announced that Chess Ultra is going to support a variety of input methods, you can play on the big screen with the console docked, in tabletop mode with the Pro Controller, and on the go in handheld mode using either the Joy-Con controllers or by taking advantage of full touch screen functionality.

Additional to this, it will also include a unique way for two people to play the game in local multiplayer cross-table playing mode, whereby the console acts as the chess board. Place the console down between you and your opponent to play cross-table chess. Each player uses an individual Joy-Con controller to take their turn, and the game features an adaptive UI for cross-table play meaning you can focus on your strategy and enjoy the ultimate table top challenge.

Finally, if that was not enough for you, the game will also support cross platform play, meaning that anyone on Switch can play against PC and Xbox One players, giving you even more players to test your chess skills against. Chess Ultra does not have a confirmed release date yet, but it is expected later this year.

So, I have been gaming since controllers only had two buttons and because I wanted to, I started my own site. Now of course, you can find me writing for Vooks as well
